Hess Ekkeh – Molecular Cytogenetics Group Member

The Nature and Organization of Repetitive DNA Landscapes in the Genomes of Capra hircus and Ovis aries

Hess Ekkeh,

Hess Ekkeh is a geneticist and genomics researcher with academic roots in both Syria and the UK. His interests span genome organization, molecular cytogenetics, comparative genomics and bioinformatics. He is a Research Fellow and ECR Representative at the Institute for Environmental Futures, University of Leicester, and an Associate Fellow of Advance HE (AFHEA). He completed his PhD in Genetics and Genome Biology in the Molecular Cytogenetics group, supervised by Pat Heslop-Harrison. His research has characterized repetitive DNA landscapes in livestock genomes, particularly sheep and goats, combining bioinformatics, genome analysis and molecular cytogenetics. He is also interested in livestock genetics and genomics in the context of agricultural sustainability, low-carbon agriculture and environmental research. Alongside his research, Hess has extensive experience in leading, teaching, mentoring and supporting early-career researchers in higher education.
